Yesterday only I had met my gynic, Is it common in pregnancy or Do I need to visit hospital immediately?

NT scan & Symptoms query

Sorry to take your time, I hope it’s okay to ask. Since this is my first pregnancy after my first try, I just wanted some reassurance about a few things.

  1. I haven’t had any vomiting since the start. Apart from slight breast enlargement and body heat for a few weeks, I don’t have many symptoms. I’m eating normally but noticed some weight loss and a flat tummy. I also recently noticed a very light line from below the belly button.

  2. Is NT scan at 14 weeks generally considered the usual timing?

[While replying to your previous text, I noticed an error, so I’m posting the question again here.]

Dr. Anusha Garapati

Symptoms can differ in pregnancy.

Nt sacn is generally adviced between 11+4 days to 14 weeks.

If scan is normal, then don’t worry about the weight.

Jaundice and passing stool

My baby is 11 days old and was born at 35 weeks gestation.

He passed stool on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day after birth. On the 8th day, he was given rectal stimulation and passed stool on the 8th and 9th day. It has now been 2 days since his last bowel movement. He is passing gas but has not passed stool.

I am concerned because he is also being treated for jaundice, and I understand that passing stool helps eliminate bilirubin from the body.

Is this pattern normal in a late-preterm newborn? Are there any safe medications or natural remedies that can help him pass stool, or should we simply continue to monitor him?

Dr. Anusha Garapati

As he is having jaundice, consult paediatrician to see the level of jaundice and mention regarding the bowel movements. Usually in preterm babies, bowel movements can irregular, but as being treated for jaundice better to consult paediatrician.
